2009 – another year of investment and growth for looksoftware!
Our 2008 results once again established new highs and we’re optimistic about 2009! Front-end and back-end modernization projects are relatively low-risk and offer rapid cost savings and productivity improvements. Our continued growth over the last 6 months tends to suggest that more people look to modernize during tough economic times.

In the new year we have announced our support for The Cloud, to be followed by Version 10, our main focus for 2009. It will preview at our April Reno Conference. The Reno event is another example of our confidence and commitment to continue to invest during these tough times – no registration fees will be charged for the Reno Conference. It's an opportunity to learn first-hand from customers and partners about saving money through modernizing, and its FREE!

Please note registrations are limited, so we suggest you register early for the best chance to secure a seat.

Announcing snap for The Cloud
look
software is offering snap for The Cloud, a set of connectors that provides developers and vendors of core 5250 and 3270 applications with the technology to produce:

- end-user collaboration and sharing of documents
- reduce IT costs
- establish a platform for leveraging Web 2.0 technologies such as Mashups
- use web services from different vendors
- store data in remote locations and access it from anywhere
- share data between users and third parties, deploy applications and data using a variety of new mechanisms and sales models
- and implement Software as a Service (SaaS)

snap for The Cloud is initially supporting Google Cloud offerings such as Google Apps and GDrive. This lets IBM i users collaborate using web-based document management solutions in addition to deploying and accessing many components of their applications and data via the Internet. Future releases will leverage other industry leaders and technologies.

looksoftware has already implemented SaaS-based deployment with some of its partners. The rapid growth of subscription-based SaaS and Cloud-based solutions offers a number of advantages over traditional software purchase models, including reduced upfront cost and risk, the opportunity to pay for what you need when you need it, cost savings due to shared infrastructure, and a quicker path to value.

snap for The Cloud is scheduled for initial availability in June 2009. looksoftware will provide more details about snap for The Cloud’s initial release including a demonstration webinar we are hosting on March 3 and 4. Register NOW!

Version 9 Beta refresh
We invest a lot of time working with emerging technologies to find the ones that will make a difference to our customers' and partners' success. Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) is a great example – it has a lot more than a new UI widget – it's generated a lot of excitement across our senior research, development and product management staff.

Yes, 9.0 includes new functionality you’ve asked for, but we think our completely new WPF interface takes the looksoftware user experience to a completely new level.

You can register your interest here for Version 9 beta access.
