looksoftware adds soarchitect to its 'Dynamic Environment'

Orlando, FL, USA - September 20, 2005. looksoftware has announced soarchitect, its latest product to enhance the ‘Dynamic Environment’. soarchitect creates web services from existing applications and enables any functionality defined or accessed using looksoftware’s 'Dynamic Environment' to be accessed as a web service. soarchitect can be used with newlook and centric to reuse, extend and integrate existing systems and deliver
new solutions as composite applications.

soarchitect is a developer component of the looksoftware 'Dynamic Environment' – a single integrated environment for modernizing existing IT assets and delivering the benefits of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and composite applications. Dynamic access to the presentation, application and database layers, provides the flexible options required to achieve optimum reuse of existing functionality.

looksoftware’s Marcus Dee said, "Gartner estimates that by 2010, 80% of midrange businesses will be deploying SOA to improve business process efficiency. VicRoads, the statutory authority responsible for the registration of 4.3 million vehicles in the state of Victoria, Australia, has recently benefited from our reuse technology to streamline their call centre business processes. A 35% reduction in average call duration was achieved by implementing a composite application that integrated their iSeries and zSeries systems using a smart client interface. The same service modules that provide programmatic access to the host applications will be reused as web services, using soarchitect. This will deliver the same streamlined business processes to the general public, by utilizing other channels such as a thin client. The initial project, completed in 4 months, did not require changes to the underlying applications and provides strong evidence of the business benefits a reuse strategy can deliver."
