looksoftware announces release of newlook and centric 6.1 Japanese Edition
Melbourne, Australia 28
June 2004 looksoftware Pty Ltd, a leading provider of application modernization and enterprise integration solutions, today announces the release of newlook and centric 6.1 Japanese edition.
newlook
and centric's
Unicode support and DBCS enablement was first completed
in 2003 when the initial customer base was established.
Since
then looksoftware
has developed additional functionality based on customer
requests and input from its reseller partners, LANSA Japan
and Five Co Ltd. The Japanese version of newlook
and centric includes printing,
extended IME support and other enhancements designed to
integrate support for both single-byte and double-byte languages.
Marcus Dee of looksoftware
said, "Our products are now used in 40 countries worldwide.
Japan has the potential to become our second largest market,
behind North America. The large and loyal IBM customer
base continues to rely on customized, robust applications
and
needs easy-to-use modernization and integration solutions.
Ease of use is the number one Japanese market requirement
and
it's our number one strength, therefore a significant
investment
in Japan makes sense to us.“
The Japanese version of newlook and centric includes fully translated documentation, user interface, installation and configuration for both developers and business users. Additional features specific to the Japanese edition include:
Printing
newlook's printer emulation has been enhanced to ensure better support for DBCS printing requirements. SCS printing now supports new configuration items for setting preferred font, margins, paper size and orientation. newlook has also been enhanced to improve printing layout on pre-printed forms.
Support for local Input Method Editor (IME)
newlook is integrated with local Input Method Editors. newlook will modify the way that it interacts with the IME depending upon the definition of the field currently being modified.
Input Validation
newlook respects and enforces host field definitions for entry-capable fields. newlook will ensure that DBCS data is only sent to fields that are defined to accept DBCS characters. Similarly, SBCS characters will not be allowed in DBCS-only defined fields.
Unicode support
newlook's Unicode support
allows a user of Windows XP (English) to conduct sessions
with a
Japanese
host eServer platform. Similarly, a user of Windows 2000 (Korean)
can connect with a Chinese host application.
Key features available in both the English and Japanese versions of the products include:
- Dynamic 'on-the-fly' generation of browser-based
smart clients for legacy eServer applications
- Enterprise integration support includes presentation, application and database layer interfaces
- Database access for all popular databases including DB2, SQL Server, Oracle and Access
- Support for web services and RPC
